More like avoiding.
At this time of year (autumn) these beautiful mammals can be seen near the Pembrokeshire coast. Big bull seals will be roaming the coast either searching for or protecting their mate. The female seals are looking for a suitable sheltered bay to have their pups. In turn the pups are often seen on beaches and secluded coves.
The pups often look abandoned, well wishing members of the public want to rescue or merely get in for a closer look. They’re not, female seals often leave their pup on a beach, especially at low tide, while they go off hunting for food.
Many grey seal pups end up abandoned after human interaction. Don’t get too close, observe at a distance that doesn’t disturb mum or pup.
